Days After Terrifying Odisha Train Crash, 101 Unidentified Bodies

Bhubaneshwar (Odisha): Authorities reported on Monday that 101 bodies still need to be identified following the horrific railway accident in Odisha, which claimed at least 278 lives and injured over 1000 people. About 200 patients are still being treated in various hospitals in Odisha, according to Rinkesh Roy, Divisional Railway Manager of the Eastern Central Railways, who spoke to ANI. "The accident injured roughly 1,100 persons, of whom about 900 received treatment and were thereafter released. In the state, there are numerous hospitals treating about 200 patients. 101 bodies out of the 278 victims of the tragedy have not yet been recognised, according to Mr. Roy, according to ANI. In Balasore, the terrible collision between two passenger trains and a goods train resulted in at least 275 fatalities and more over 1100 injured. In India, this horrific occurrence has had a huge impact. "Of the total 193 bodies kept in Bhubaneswar, 80 bodies have been identified," said Vijay Amrit Kulange, Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, to ANI. The family members have received 55 bodies. BMC's helpline number 1929 has received more than 200 calls. The deceased are being recognised and given to the family members. A halted goods train and the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express collided, resulting in numerous coaches derailing into the nearby track and the accident. The Howrah Express then derailed further when it slammed into the affected carriages at a high rate of speed on its way from Yesvantpur to Howrah. On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assessed the Balasore disaster scene from the ground up and also paid a visit to the hospital patients who were injured.
